Purau, a rural subdivision
Banks Peninsula, Canterbury
Set in an open grassland hillside of a Banks Peninsula bay, the site consisted of several ridges and gullies. The 60 allotments, ranging between 2500m2 to 8000m2, were sensitively sited in the wide and shallow gullies. The allotments were "linked together" with an extensive revegetation scheme, while the ridges remained as open grassland and tussock country.
The objective was to not dilute the rural character of the hillside and to gift the open land as a public reserve.
